PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

Psychological assessment can be helpful in gaining a deeper understanding of patterns in mood, personality, attention, or emotional functioning. I offer focused assessments when they may help clarify treatment needs or guide the therapeutic process. These assessments are conducted as part of ongoing psychotherapy and are intended to inform clinical care.

A practice built on

INCLUSION

I care deeply about social justice and believe in the inherent dignity, worth, and rights of all people, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, or ethnicity. These values are central to my work as a therapist.

I approach psychological suffering with the understanding that our inner lives are shaped not only by personal experiences, but also by the cultural, historical, and social worlds we inhabit. Historical trauma, social inequality, and systemic oppression can leave deep imprints on how we come to understand ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the world. While therapy is deeply personal, it does not exist outside the social and political realities that influence our lives. Thoughtful therapy therefore remains attentive to these broader contexts as part of understanding psychological suffering and healing.

STORY & METAPHOR

I have long been drawn to literature, philosophy and the arts as companions to psychological work. Stories, poetry, and metaphor often give language to experiences that can be difficult to name directly, and they can open new ways of understanding ourselves.

Throughout history, writers and artists have grappled with many of the same questions that arise in therapy—questions of identity, suffering, love, loss, and meaning. Engaging with these perspectives can sometimes illuminate aspects of our own experience that feel otherwise hard to articulate.

Language and narrative can offer powerful ways of understanding ourselves, helping us make meaning of experiences. Metaphor in particular can open new ways of seeing long-standing patterns and invite curiosity and insight.

MINDFULNESS & SOMATIC AWARENESS

Our experiences are not only held in thoughts and emotions, but also in the body. Stress, trauma, and difficult life experiences can sometimes lead us to feel disconnected from our physical selves or to move through the world in a constant state of tension or vigilance.

Part of the therapeutic process may involve gently cultivating greater awareness of bodily sensations and learning to listen to the signals the body provides. Practices drawn from mindfulness and somatic awareness can help restore a sense of connection, allowing the body to become a source of information, grounding, and stability.

Developing this kind of awareness often helps people feel more present in their lives and more attuned to their own needs, emotions, and internal rhythms. Over time, reconnecting with the body can support greater emotional regulation, resilience, and a deeper sense of self-understanding.

VALUES & MEANING MAKING

A central part of my work with clients involves exploring personal values—what matters most to you, what gives your life meaning, and the kind of person you hope to be in the world. During times of stress, loss, or uncertainty, it can be easy to feel disconnected from these deeper commitments.

Clarifying values can provide a sense of direction and grounding, helping guide choices, relationships, and life transitions. When we become more connected to what truly matters to us, it can also cultivate a greater sense of steadiness and resilience in the face of life’s inevitable challenges. Rather than focusing only on reducing distress, this work invites a broader exploration of how to live in ways that feel meaningful, intentional, and aligned with what you care about most.
